About
Luc Goidadin is an artist and Creative Director based in Somerset who also works in London and Seoul.
His art practice inhabits a grotesque and darkly comic world where figures of authority and human absurdity are exposed. Drawing on the visual language of cartoons, political satyr and theatrical archetypes, his figures are at once victim and perpetrator, comical and menacing, commanding and ridiculous. The figure of the political or corporate everyman (either suited or donning Y-fronts) is a recurring character trapped in a technicolour Grand Guignol. The object of the chair is another leitmotif, a fluctuating emblem of status and submission, comfort and restriction.
Having studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, Luc pursued a career in fashion at Thierry Mugler, Maxmara, Burberry, Smythson and Daks. Luc created sci-fi cartoons as a young child and maintained a private drawing and painting practice in parallel to his studies and design career. The Whitfield Street solo presentation in November 2026 is the first public showing of his paintings.
